Alliance Defending Freedom is looking for a highly skilled Senior Research Fellow to join us in our Lansdowne, VA or remote home office.   As Senior Research Fellow, you are a vital part of the Advocacy Strategy Team which is part of the U.S. Legal Team. In this role, you will report to VP of Advocacy Strategy. The work of the Senior Research Fellow will help advance ADF’s legal objectives in the culture. The Senior Research Fellow is a skilled policy professional capable of undertaking independent research and publishing (e.g. law reviews, white papers, resources, and presentations) without substantial oversight. Senior Research Fellow will initiate and coordinate scholarly research on topics related to ADF’s legal objectives, including but not limited to, any of ADF’s Generational Wins (Sanctity of Life, Religious Freedom, Freedom of Speech, Marriage and Family and Parental Rights). This includes organizing scholarly symposia, public events, and conferences. Senior Research Fellow may also represent ADF as we participate in and build coalitions designed to support ADF’s legal objectives. As requested, Senior Research Fellow will speak to audiences of policy allies, legislators, the media, and ministry allies about topics, including but not limited to, ADF’s Generational Wins.

Your Essential Responsibilities:

  • Participate in strategically assessing, initiating, and developing culture-shaping efforts that advance the legal objectives of ADF in its core issue areas, especially its Generational Wins.
  • Develop and coordinate academic scholarship to support ADF’s legal objectives, especially its Generational Wins.
  • Undertake scholarly research projects in support of ADF’s legal objectives. Draft memoranda regarding research findings.
  • Develop and write advocacy pieces, such as law reviews, white papers, opinion pieces, designed to influence policy on ADF’s core issues, especially its Generational Wins.
  • Draft briefing materials for and participate in meetings with policy makers and policy allies.
  • Represent ADF in various speaking engagements, including media interviews and podcasts.
  • Assist with reports related to the work of the Advocacy Strategy team.

Education and/or experience:

  • Master’s degree preferred
  • Experience in Public Policy and Education 10+ years
